When it comes to Hi-Fi speakers, every listener wants them to reproduce sound with absolute accuracy, creating an experience that is as pure and natural as the original performance. However, the physical presence of that speaker within a home is just as important.
At KEF, we believe that visual design and acoustic engineering are inseparable. How a loudspeaker looks and the materials from which it is made must serve the sound, creating a harmonious experience for both the ears and the eyes.
This purposeful design philosophy is the driving force behind introducing two new finishes for our iconic LS50 collection. Moss Green and Sand Shell are not simply aesthetic updates; they are an extension of our 'Soulful Minimalism' design theme, a response to the desire for home environments that feel restorative and authentic, without compromising acoustic perfection.
Introducing the Two New LS50 Colours
Moss Green
Moss Green is a colour of balance and restoration. It captures the natural world's quiet but resilient beauty, reflecting a forest floor's deep tranquillity. This rich, organic hue was meticulously selected to create an atmosphere of calm and stability, grounding the listening experience in a sense of natural harmony.

It is a colour that fosters a deeper connection to the outdoors, bringing a feeling of renewal and focus into the home. In its understated elegance, Moss Green mirrors our commitment to pure, uncoloured sound.

Sand Shell
Sand Shell evokes a sense of serene timelessness. It is the colour of tranquil shores and warm, minimalist architecture, a neutral hue that conveys comfort, clarity, and calm. Its soft, muted tones are effortless in any living space.

We chose Sand Shell for its honest and soothing character; it is a finish that does not demand attention, but rewards it. It provides the perfect visual counterpart to the pure, immersive sound of the LS50 Collection, embodying a quiet confidence that is felt as much as it is seen.

Acoustic Excellence, Aesthetically Realised
Our passion for acoustic excellence means we obsess over every detail. That iconic, curved baffle on the LS50? It’s the result of countless hours of simulation and testing, all to ensure the sound from our Uni-Q® driver is delivered with absolute purity. The form is not a matter of style, but a fundamental component of the sound itself.
This obsession led us to develop Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT™). It was our answer to a problem that has challenged speaker designers for decades: internal distortion. By creating a unique maze-like structure that absorbs 99% of this unwanted sound, we unlocked a level of detail and realism that was previously impossible. Working perfectly with our 12th generation Uni-Q driver, which projects an incredibly wide and uniform soundstage, the technology lets the music speak for itself. Our most pioneering technology is wrapped in a design that finally feels like home.
