The Marshall – Hendrix collaboration was the cultivation of new techniques and extreme ideas for their time that elevated the entire medium of sound. They brought something new that changed the way music was heard. That’s where the legacy began. The door having been opened, it has spawned an ongoing boldness of ideas and possibilities in the here and now, and for the future. That is the impact that the legacy continues to have on the world. Marshall and Hendrix fed into each other’s uniqueness and brilliance. Marshall’s technology amplified Hendrix's music in a way that awakened even more creativity. Hendrix's music gave Marshall something amazing to work with and expanded his inventiveness. Their musical work and their friendship were beautiful because of a shared desire to go beyond what was being done and venture into something unheard of. An uncharted territory which they owned. It was incredibly heartwarming to talk to Jim Marshall about his friendship with Jimi and their accomplishments as trailblazers. Over the years we developed a strong relationship with the Marshall Amplification family, and we were able to create some amazing products together. We mused about how Jimi must have known this was meant to be, not just based on their approach to sound, but the fact that they shared the names James and Marshall – Marshall being Jim‘s last name and Jimi‘s middle name. It was as if the stars had aligned to bring them together. We are elated that the alliance formed between Marshall and Hendrix created a lasting bond that we continue to enjoy.
