A “megahertz upsampling” algorithm processes the entire PCM music from 1.5 MHz in 32 bits. The Femto master clock shines with a precision of 82 femtoseconds (0.082 picoseconds) and thus ensures an almost jitter-free transmission of the signal. In conjunction with the other technologies * patented by AURALiC, such as the ORFEO Class-A module and the pure power solution bring VEGA playback of high-resolution music close to perfection.

AURALiC Sanctuary audio processor

The Sanctuary audio processor, the heart of VEGA, is based on a multi-core ARM9 architecture with a processing power of 1000 MIPS and is therefore ideally suited for the playback of high-resolution multi-channel music. AURALiC also integrates the second generation of the ActiveUSB ™ interface, in which the USB-PHY unit is outsourced to a separate chip to further reduce electromagnetic interference from the connected computer. Based on these technologies, VEGA not only supports the DXD format (352.8 kS / s and 384 kS / s PCM signal with 32bit) but also decodes DSD streams with 2.8224 MHz and 5.6448MHz natively via the 'DoP V1' .1 'Transmission standard.

Megahertz upsampling

Using the latest algorithms, the AURALiC megahertz upsampling algorithm extrapolates all incoming PCM digital signals to 1.5 MHz with a word length of 32 bits. This not only increases the precision of the DAC, it also results in a much higher Nyquist frequency for all PCM signals, which has a significantly greater distance from the upper cut-off frequency of the respective audio spectrum. This enabled the AURALiC engineers to use a completely new analog circuit with a larger bandwidth and higher slew rate. Compared to previous circuits, the new structure is more permeable to audio signals with less distortion and less noise. As a result, CDs according to the Red Book Standard sound much fuller and smoother than previously known.

Femto master clock

The Femto Master Clock provides the DAC with the ultimate clock signal with extremely low jitter and phase noise. Quartz oscillators from space technology, ultra-low-noise linear power supplies and temperature compensation are used to generate a master clock signal with extremely low jitter of only 82 femtoseconds (0.082 picoseconds). It is even more important that the phase noise, which significantly influences the sound quality, could be reduced to only -168 dBc / Hz. Driven by this uniquely clean clock signal, VEGA delivers musical resolution down to the smallest bit and presents an ultra-stable stage display.

Adjustable digital filter

VEGA has six built-in digital filters that were developed according to AURALiC's special subjective hearing test model. These filters are designed to optimize the listening experience for different music types and formats.

The linear-phase filter shows the lowest ripple in the transmission band and best attenuation in the stop band, while the minimal-phase filter has an even more musical effect, since it does not require a 'pre-ringing' effect. There are also slow roll-off filters and several noise filters for native DSD conversion. The user can further fine-tune the filters and thus adapt them to the sound conditions of different music formats and their own taste.

AURALiC ORFEO Class-A Output Module

VEGA is equipped with AURALiC's patented ORFEO Class-A output stage module in order to achieve full sonic performance even with the most difficult input impedances of power amplifiers or active loudspeakers.

The circuit design of this module is inspired by the legendary Rupert Neve 8078 analog console. A large number of small signal components with the best linear characteristics are used, which are operated in a thermal compensation environment. The transistors run in Class A mode. As a result, ORFEO achieves impressive sonic performance with distortions of less than 0.001% in open loop operation. The ORFEO module used in VEGA has been specially selected and optimized for even lower noise, while maintaining its ability to drive loads of 600 ohms without increasing distortion.

Megahertz-Upsampling

Unter Verwendung neuester Algorithmen rechnet der AURALiC Megahertz-Upsampling-Algorithmus alle eingehenden PCM Digitalsignale auf 1,5 MHz bei 32 bit Wortbreite hoch. Dadurch erhöht sich nicht nur die Präzision des DACs, sondern es ergibt sich auch eine viel höhere Nyquist-Frequenz für alle PCM Signale, die einen deutlich größeren Abstand zur oberen Grenzfrequenz des jeweiligen Audiospektrums hat. Dadurch konnten die AURALiC-Ingenieure einen völlig neuen Analog-Schaltkreis verwenden mit größerer Bandbreite und höherer Anstiegsgeschwindigkeit. Im Vergleich zu bisherigen Schaltungen ist die neue Struktur durchlässiger für Audiosignale bei gleichzeitig geringeren Verzerrungen und weniger Rauschen. Dadurch klingen auch CDs nach Red Book Standard viel voller und geschmeidiger als bisher bekannt.

Femto-Master-Clock

Die Femto-Master-Clock liefert dem DAC das ultimative Taktsignal mit extrem geringem Jitter und Phasenrauschen. Es werden Quarzoszillatoren aus der Raumfahrttechnik, ultra-low-noise-Linearnetzteile sowie Temperatur-Kompensation verwendet, um ein Master-Clocksignal mit extrem geringem Jitter von nur 82 Femtosekunden (0,082 Picosekunden) zu erzeugen. Noch wichtiger ist aber, dass das Phasenrauschen, das die Klangqualität deutlich beeinflusst, auf nur -168 dBc/Hz reduziert werden konnte. Angetrieben von diesem einmalig sauberen Taktsignal liefert der VEGA eine musikalische Auflösung bis in das kleinste Bit hinein und präsentiert eine ultrastabile Bühnendarstellung.

Einstellbare Digitalfilter

VEGA hat sechs eingebaute Digitalfilter, die nach AURALiCs speziellem subjektiven Hörtestmodell entwickelt wurden. Diese Filter wurden entworfen, um das Hörerlebnis für verschiedene Musikarten und -formate zu optimieren.

Das linearphasige Filter zeigt die geringste Restwelligkeit im Übertragungsband und beste Dämpfung im Sperrband, während das minimalphasige Filter noch musikalischer wirkt, da es ohne ‚Pre-Ringing‘-Effekt auskommt. Darüber hinaus gibt es Slow Roll-Off Filter und mehrere Noise-Filter für native DSD-Konvertierung. Das Schaltungsdesign dieses Moduls ist von der legendären Rupert-Neve-8078-Analogkonsole inspiriert. Es wird eine Vielzahl von Kleinsignalkomponenten mit bester Linearcharakteristik verwendet, die in einer thermischen Ausgleichsumgebung betrieben werden. Die Transistoren laufen im Class-A-Betrieb.
