A life's quest - the Contendo II Horn speaker system is realised! Aries Cerat, May 12, 2022

“We establishing the company 12 years ago, with the sole purpose of creating the original Contendo Horn Speaker system. The first Contendo became IMVHO the best speaker out there. In Feb 2010 we had no idea how big, complicated and elaborate that project would be, and how that would then lead to the Contendo II.”

From the creation and design of electronics specifically for the task of helping us develop our speaker, to the spin-off speakers that came out (using technology from the main speaker project), it has been quite a ride. In fact the electronics that were developed as lab tools for the speaker development became the foundation of what is now our range of Amplifiers, Phono Stages and DACs, what has become our core design and manufacturing business at Aries Cerat.

It was time to finish the speaker project. The Contendo II is finally out. The first pair is already in it’s shipping crates, a total of 20 crates, 3 tonnes in weight, is soon on it’s way, while we are preparing for another two pairs.

A number of people heard the prototypes in our space from the four corners of the globe. I just feel lucky I am enjoying the prototype as a daily speaker in the shop, even as background music.

Linn
Pistonik, Low-frequency drive unit motor system
Our unique Pistonik motor system is the driving force behind Linn-designed low frequency drive units. Pistonik produces flawless linear force over its entire wide range of in-and-out travel—even when driven extremely hard with bass-heavy music—thanks to a very long-stroke motor topology with a specially extended magnet gap. Major innovations throughout Pistonik’s design engineer out magnetic, mechanical, and thermal factors which together conspire to defeat linear performance.
