The floorstanding F1-8S joins Fyne Audio’s flagship F1 Series, adding floorstanding cabinet scale and LF dynamics to the class-leading F1-8 stand mount performance.
FYNE AUDIO has expanded its flagship F1 Series of loudspeakers with a much demanded floorstanding model based on the 8” (250mm) IsoFlare driver found in its best-selling F1-8 stand mount model. Introducing the Fyne Audio F1-8S.
The new F1-8S upgrades the IsoFlare’s driver suspension and crossover design to integrate seamlessly with the larger volume cabinet, offering all immediacy and musical engagement of the multiple 5-Star reviewed stand mount with enhanced bass depth and dynamics. The design incorporates a larger metal sandwich plinth that forms part of the larger BassTrax LF porting system, as well as offering stability through top adjustable locking spikes.
Like all the models in F1 Series, the F1-8S is designed, manufactured and hand finished to Fyne’s exacting standards at its Glasgow UK facility. The traditional piano gloss real walnut veneers and opulent burr walnut inlays speak of the engineering excellence and detail within, which includes Fyne’s latest point source IsoFlare driver and a custom, handbuilt crossover.
The F1-8S scales up the presentation of its smaller sibling to an imposing floorstanding design offering the same unique cosmetic as the larger F1-10S and F1-12S models in a more manageable size. Its upgraded 8” (200mm) IsoFlare driver, combines a multi-fibre mid/bass cone with a 25mm magnesium dome compression tweeter, along with a raft of Fyne’s technologies and refinements, including FyneFlute roll surround, cast aluminium chassis and ferrite HF magnets.
Fyne’s BassTrax technology in the F1-8S draws its design architecture from the F1-10S/F1-12S models, using a two layer machined aluminium plinth with a Tractrix profile diffuser cone. This transfers the plane wave LF energy from the cabinet’s down-firing port into a 360-degree spherical wavefront. This seamless LF output delivers substantial bass depth and weight and makes the resulting speaker far less critical of room position and placement.
True to the F1 Series, the F1-8S offer subtle control over the presence band output via a robust front mounted aluminium knob. This unique control through the 2.5kHz – 5kHz region, of up to +/-3dB, gives users subtle adjustment of the soundstage through the key vocal spectrum without impacting the overall balance or the speaker’s faithful reproduction of the original recording. The control can gently counter room issues such as being overly live or too heavily damped, or can be left in the central 0dB position for a purist response in natural sounding rooms.
Crafted to partner with the finest amplification, the F1-8S’ high sensitivity (91dB/W) ensures exceptional dynamic range and compatibility with the widest range of amplifiers from single-ended triode valve models to the highest power solid state designs. At 1086mm tall with a compact 335 x 445mm footprint, the braced birch ply cabinets, IsoFlare driver, electronics and metal plinth add up to a substantial 30kg per speaker.
Designed, handcrafted and hand finished at Fyne Audio’s UK manufacturing facility in Glasgow, the sumptuous, lacquered burr walnut finish of the F1-8S offers a bold statement in loudspeaker design for the audiophile wanting big speaker performance, but with (relatively) limited space.
