Harnessing the power of the gods with our new DIAS amplifier Ultrafide Audio, February 21, 2025

Rooted in ancient Greek mythology, Dias was the original name for Zeus – the king of the gods, a symbol of strength, authority and mastery. Just as Zeus ruled the skies with thunder and lightning, Ultrafide’s DIAS-U8 commands sound with raw energy and impeccable precision, delivering a breathtaking and perfectly controlled sonic experience.

A true masterpiece of sonic engineering, delivering superior & pure Class AB power with a unique sliding bias design, created by Terry Clarke and refined by Alex Cooper, both considered legends in pro audio. DIAS-U8 can deliver a huge 1KW per channel with ease – coupled with a no compromise over-engineered linear 1000VA toroidal PSU with a dual-mono platform, delivering unparalleled low noise, audio purity and superior performance.

Special attention to detail has been made with the component placement ensuring no

50Hz noise can be picked up from the power supply and using separate ground return current paths for each channel ensures total silence between tracks.

The DIAS-U8 weighs in at a monstrous 50KG and conforms to no set standards in the industry. It’s insanely powerful, heavy duty, and is a pure statement piece that has taken three years of development by Alex Cooper and his team of engineers.

Alex’s design pedigree in the pro market is utilised fully, with DIAS-U8 boasting MC2 Audio’s unique floating drive technique – meaning the output stage is controlled by a single op-amp IC, that is powered from floating rails that track the power output signal – which enables a simple, effective and reliable, overall control loop that gives a characteristically “open” and natural sound, even at high power levels.

Popularised in the early MC & later S series products that can be found all around the world in some of the most famous recording and mastering studios, the design features 13 premium power devices (per channel) mounted on a copper bar, thermally coupled to the custom heatsinks for balanced current sharing and high total current capacity without risk of damage. Alongside no peak current limiting – which maintains uncoloured sound at all power levels – and a custom-designed passive cooling system with precision-machined aluminium heatsinks for efficient heat dissipation.

Designed to deliver on the most ambitious of home audio set ups, cinema rooms or studio environments – only a small number of units are initially being made, with the full pricing to be announced soon.

Mark Bailey, product specialist at Ultrafide Audio and MC2, said: “Ultrafide is here to bring pro sound to the home, using decades of sonic pedigree to provide a new level of Hi-Fi amplification and audio quality to the domestic market. No application constraints, no logistical hurdles, no compromises – just the best engineering, design and components to bring the finest possible sound to the home.”

With the DIAS-U8, Alex and his team got to work and we believe the end result is going to completely change the game for what’s considered possible within Hi-Fi, offering a new perspective for audiophiles who take their sound seriously. Similarly sized products to the DIAS-U8 can cost up to 3-5 times what it does, so although it’s a big investment, we believe it delivers outstanding value for the quality you get.

“If you want the power of the gods in your living room then DIAS will deliver that for you. Pro sound is homebound… but you may want a touring company’s rigging system to transport it to your pad!”

The DIAS-U8’s unveiling in 2025 follows a stellar 2024 for Ultrafide Audio, with its debut Ultra Sigma pre/power combo launch resulting in exports to 20 countries from its base in the UK, where everything is designed and manufactured.
