Technical Audio Devices Laboratories, Inc., today announced the TAD-R1TXLTD speaker system as the newest addition to its Reference Series of hi-fi speakers. The TAD-R1TXLTD is the limited edition of the critically acclaimed TAD-R1 Reference One top-of-the-line speaker system, released in 2019, with a host of additional refinements and enhancements, and only 25 pairs of them will be available worldwide on a built-to-order basis.

To gain specialty status in both esthetics and sound quality, the TAD-R1TXLTD comes in an upgraded sturdier enclosure finished in deep, elegant Santa Maria aquamarine.

MAIN FEATURES

1) Santa Maria aquamarine finish brings out a quasi-three-dimensional elegance of the grain

The original TAD-R1TX is available in two colors—Beryl Red and Emerald Black, both of which derive from beryl, a rare ore that can be processed into beryllium. The TAD-R1TXLTD takes its cue from this approach in finish and comes in an enclosure finished in deep, elegant Santa Maria aquamarine. This color helps bring out a quasi-three-dimensional elegance of the grain when seen under the shading of light, like a light reflecting on the surface of the water seen above from undersea, enhancing the esthetic beauty of this craftwork. The enclosure is made using a meticulous and time-consuming process of painting, polishing, and fine-surface-polishing performed by skilled artisans. To give the TAD-R1TXLTD additional specialty status, we finished the trim ring around the CST Driver in elegant Aurelia gold color.

2) Upgraded SILENT Enclosure

The enclosure of the TAD-R1TXLTD is made of laminated hybrid materials. Its SILENT Enclosure features sturdy transverse bulkheads clad with thick panels, combining the best of a frame structure and a monocoque structure to maximize the enclosure’s static and dynamic strengths, as well as its vibration-dampening characteristics. A 15-mm thick, 12 kg aluminum base was added to the base that supports the bass-reflex port tube and the enclosure. This was intended to lower the center of gravity of the entire speaker system to deliver more powerful bass. The aluminum base is finished with Aurelia gold color that matches that of the driver’s trim ring.

3) Redesigned spikes and spike holders

A set of redesigned three spikes supports the massive weight of the speaker system and helps it achieve more condensed and energetic audio reproduction with spatial nuance of the music retained intact. The pointed tip of the spike is made of super-hard, wear-resistant special alloy steel with little elastic displacement to support the 162 kg weight of the speaker and bring out the best from it. The newly developed matching spike holder employs a hybrid vibration-dampening structure that uses the combination of hard and soft materials, and uses a special alloy where the spike tip sits. The combination of large spikes and spike holders gives the speaker a more stylish look and yet another sign of its specialty status.

4) Special sound-tuning

To bring out the best of the SILENT Enclosure with enhanced static and dynamic strengths and vibration-dampening characteristics, we perform special sound-tuning of the TAD-R1TXLTD. The result is outstanding audio performance expected of the limited-edition, top-of-the-line speaker system in the Reference Series.
