At audioG, we take buyer protection seriously. We continually develop and refine our protection measures to help identify fraudulent listings, discourage misuse of the platform and give buyers more information about the sellers they contact.
Our approach combines checks on the actual equipment, identity verification, member verification, paid listing requirements and automated screening. Each adds a layer of protection and helps buyers make more informed decisions.
1. Video Verification
Photographs alone may not establish that a seller has access to the equipment advertised. For this reason, first-time sellers are required to provide a video of the actual unit offered for sale. We also request videos for selected listings as part of our checks.
When requested, the seller must send the video to audioG’s WhatsApp support line before the listing can be approved. New sellers who do not provide the requested video will not have their listings approved.
This helps us assess whether the seller has access to the advertised unit. A video does not, by itself, guarantee ownership, the equipment’s condition or its eventual delivery.
2. ID Verification
ID verification adds accountability by requiring sellers to complete an identity check. The service is already active and will soon become mandatory for posting listings. Until then, we may require a seller to verify their identity before approving their listings.
Members who successfully complete the process receive an “ID Verified” badge, displayed on their profiles and listings. Verification is free of charge and can be accessed through the “ID Verification” menu in the member’s panel.
The badge confirms that the member has successfully completed our identity verification process. The member submits a government-issued identity document to our verification provider, which checks the document’s authenticity. The member then takes a selfie, which undergoes a liveness check and is compared with the photograph on the identity document. Once all required checks are passed, the account receives “ID Verified” status.
This provides an important layer of protection by helping establish that a real person, whose identity has been checked, is associated with the seller’s account. Requiring a verifiable identity creates an additional barrier for scammers seeking to remain anonymous, helping strengthen trust and reliability across the platform. It does not guarantee the accuracy of every listing, ownership of the equipment or the outcome of a transaction.
How verification works →
1. Start from your member’s panel
Log in to audioG and select “ID Verification” from the menu. Verification is free of charge. Follow the on-screen instructions and allow camera access when prompted.
2. Present a government-issued identity document
You will be asked to photograph an accepted government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, national identity card or driving licence. The available document options depend on your country and the verification flow.
Use your original physical document and capture both sides when requested. The images should be clear, with all corners visible and no glare obscuring the details.
3. Document checks
Didit examines the document images and reads the identity information. Its checks assess document authenticity and look for inconsistencies or signs of alteration, helping identify potentially fraudulent documents.
4. Selfie and liveness check
You will be asked to capture your face using your device’s camera. Liveness detection assesses whether the capture shows a live person present during verification, helping detect attempts to use photographs, recordings or other impersonation methods.
5. Facial matching
The captured facial image is compared with the photograph on the identity document. This helps establish that the person completing verification is the person shown on the submitted ID.
6. Verification result and badge
Once verification has been successfully completed and approved, an “ID Verified” badge will appear on your audioG profile and listings. Buyers can use this badge as an additional signal when assessing a seller.
3. Member Verification
audioG members can verify other members, providing buyers with an additional source of information about a seller.
Within each listing, buyers can see how many members have verified the seller and visit those members’ profiles. This makes the verification more transparent and allows buyers to consider who has provided it.
Member verification should be considered alongside the seller’s identity verification and other available information. It is a community signal and does not replace an identity check or guarantee a transaction.
4. Paid Seller Listings
Since October 2026, all new sellers are required to pay by credit card to publish their listings.
This introduces an additional step and cost when posting an advertisement, creating a further barrier to misuse of the platform. It forms part of our broader approach to discouraging fraudulent listings.
Payment for a listing does not mean that audioG endorses the seller or guarantees the equipment advertised.
5. Smart Listing Checks
Our custom algorithm checks listings for specific indicators that may suggest suspicious activity. These include unusually low prices and other parameters used to identify listings that warrant closer attention.
Automated screening helps us spot potential problems and focus further checks where they may be needed. We continually refine these checks as new patterns of misuse emerge.
A flagged listing is not necessarily fraudulent, and a listing that passes screening is not guaranteed to be legitimate.
Continuing to Improve Buyer Protection
We review and strengthen our protection measures as the platform grows and new risks emerge. Our goal is to make audioG a more trustworthy place to buy and sell hi-fi equipment while giving buyers clear, useful information.
These checks help reduce risk. They do not guarantee a seller or transaction. Before making a payment, review the seller’s information, clarify the equipment’s condition and agree on payment and delivery arrangements. If a listing or seller raises concerns, please contact audioG support.
