Excerpt from Jeff Fritz's review on UltraAudio:I compared the Rockport Mira with two much more expensive speakers that I had on hand: the YG Acoustics Kipod ($ 38,000 / pair) and the Wilson Audio Specialties WATT / Puppy 8 ($ 27,900 / pair). The Kipods are still the reigning image champions in my room, emitting the most accurate sound stage that he heard. In comparison, the images of the Miras were more corpulent and palpable: there was more life within the images, although they were not so recorded in space. The Mira played with more authority than the Kipod, moving more air in the low graves (around 40Hz and less) and, therefore, gave more weight and weight to the music that demanded it. The treble of the Mira was not as prominent as those of the Kipod, although nothing was missing at the higher frequencies. Although the presentations of the two speakers were quite different, I could not tell which one was giving me the most honest interpretation of the maxims. Now that is an enigma for a critic. Both produced a spectacularly clear midrange without any hint of color. The voices through both speakers were as close to the sound transparency as I heard.WATT / Puppy 8 provided another useful comparison for the Mira. Obviously, I found that the W / P8 had the most energetic low-middle beat of the two, along with incredible agility in that frequency band. With drum kits, for example, the Wilson sounds extremely fast and stubborn. It also has the ability to keep up with the dynamic contrasts extraordinarily well, surpassing most of the speakers I've heard in that area. Mira's treble, on the other hand, transmitted as much information as Wilson's, both produced detailed but compound treble that could never be called analytical, but their upper band was just a touch. more relaxed. Both pairs of speakers also obtained images in a spacious but focused way, although Mira captured more of the acoustic character of certain places. Mira played with greater presence and dexterity at the lower end, tracking the bass instruments in a way that almost challenged me to call the music played. The YGA and Wilson speakers did some things better than the Rockport Mira. At much higher prices, they should: they are very nice products. But the Mira did several things that none of those expensive speakers do, things that you should not expect the Mira to do at your price. I'm not sure that if I had to play the three speakers in my room for an average group of audiophiles, I would come out with a clear consensus on which one was the most pleasant. The surprising thing is that the Mira costs about half the price of the Wilson, and only about a third of the price of the YGA. That makes the Mira the real bargain of the group.
