Very well maintained Technics RS-678 US tape deck from 1976. Technically flawless!Further information (subject to change):The Technics RS-678 US Tape Deck, manufactured in Japan between 1976 and 1979, is an impressive piece of equipment. In elegant black and weighing 10 kg, it was available at the time for about 1,400 DM. With dimensions of 450 x 173 x 341 mm (WxHxD), it found its place in many hi-fi systems.The connection options of the RS-678 US included Line In (DIN) with 60 mV / 68 kOhm and microphone with 0.3 mV / 600 - 20,000 Ohms. On the output side, it offered Line Out (DIN) with 0.42 V / 50 kOhm and a headphone output (6.3 mm jack) with 65 mV / 8 Ohm.Technically, the RS-678 US had an HPF sound head for recording and playback, as well as a double-slit ferrite head for erasing. The motors consisted of a sound wave/capstan and a tape plate, both with direct current and F.G. servo control. The synchronization fluctuations were extremely low at 0.06% (WRMS) and ± 0.15% (DIN). The deck supported band types I (normal band), II (CrO2) and III (FeCr) and offered a frequency response of 25 - 14,000 Hz for Type I and 25 - 15,000 Hz for Type II & III according to DIN.
