Description Original Description is in English, other language texts are translations and can contain errors. EnglishDeutschSpanishTurkish dCS Bartók D/A converter, in perfect condition, single owner, includes original packaging and manual, features a headphone output, silver finish.

The dCS Bartók is a high-end digital-to-analog converter (DAC) and network streamer manufactured by the British company dCS (Data Conversion Systems). Designed to house the brand’s reference-grade digital architecture within a single chassis, it serves as a complete digital source, preamplifier, and—in the dedicated variant—a headphone amplifier.

Audio Technologies and Architecture

Ring DAC™: Utilizes the proprietary Ring DAC™ technology—a discrete conversion matrix controlled by a high-performance, FPGA-based platform.

Upsampling: Offers selectable upsampling for PCM streams up to DXD (24-bit/384 kHz) or DSD/DSDx2, complemented by customizable digital filters for both PCM and DSD modes.

Clock Synchronization: Features an auto-clocking system designed to minimize jitter. It includes two BNC Word Clock inputs and one Word Clock output for connection to external master clocks.

Network and Streaming Platform

dCS Mosaic App: Managed via the dCS Mosaic Control application, which handles device configuration and playback from high-resolution services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Deezer, and internet radio.

Network Integration: Roon Ready certified; supports Apple AirPlay, Spotify Connect, and streaming via UPnP/DLNA from NAS drives located on the home network.

Formats and Resolutions: Decodes PCM up to 24-bit/384 kHz and DSD up to DSD128 (via DoP or natively over network/USB), and provides full hardware decoding for MQA files. Headphone Amplifier Section

The Bartók variant with a headphone amplifier includes a dedicated Class A stage built with discrete components:

Headphone Outputs: One 6.35 mm unbalanced jack and one 4-pin balanced XLR connector.

Output Power: Delivers up to 1.4 W RMS into 33 Ω and 0.15 W RMS into 300 Ω, capable of driving both high-impedance headphones and demanding planar-magnetic models.

Connectivity and Construction

Digital Inputs: RJ45 Ethernet (with a Loop Out port), asynchronous USB Type-B, USB Type-A for external drives, 2x AES/EBU (configurable as Dual AES for encrypted dCS SACD streams), 2x S/PDIF (RCA and BNC coaxial), and 1x Toslink optical.

Analog Outputs: Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA, with an output level adjustable via the menu (0.2V, 0.6V, 2V, 6V RMS), allowing for direct connection to power amplifiers or active speakers.

Chassis: Machined from aluminum using CNC processes, featuring an insulating structure designed to resist electromagnetic interference and vibrations. Total weight is approximately 16.7 kg.
