Designed by Wayne Colburn in collaboration with Nelson Pass. Created as a "cost-no-object" project (free from budget or size constraints), it was conceived as the ideal companion for the Xs series power amplifiers (Xs 300 and Xs 150).

Architecture and Construction

Dual-Chassis Configuration (Dual Mono): The system physically separates the power supply/control circuitry from the delicate audio gain stages to eliminate electromagnetic interference and background noise.

Pure Class A Gain Stages: A direct-coupled circuit featuring two balanced Pure Class A gain stages, utilizing an ultra-low feedback topology and a highly simplified signal path.

Oversized Power Supply: Houses a capacitor bank with exceptional cumulative capacitance (exceeding 100,000–200,000 µF)—a value equal to or greater than that of many power amplifiers—ensuring a massive energy reserve and consistent power delivery.

Ultra-Premium Components: Employs gold-plated ceramic circuit boards, Silicon Carbide semiconductors, and custom-made, ultra-quiet toroidal transformers.

Features and Control

Precision Volume Control: Utilizes a relay-and-resistor attenuator managed by an optical encoder, ensuring perfect channel balance and a wide adjustment range with ultra-high resolution. Absolute Background Silence: It boasts a residual noise level of less than -122 dBV, allowing even micro-dynamic details and the subtlest nuances of the audio signal to emerge.

Comprehensive Connectivity: Equipped with a wide range of both balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) inputs and outputs, polarity (phase) inversion control, and pass-through inputs/outputs (tape loop). Technical Specifications
